First
Annual Homeschool Family Day at the Capitol
February 12, 2004
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Hosted by the Christian Homeschool Network
This was the Christian Homeschool Networks first annual Homeschool Day
at the Capitol event. The purpose of this event is two-fold, to honor the hard work of our legislature and to raise awareness
of homeschooling. The event proved to be very successful. We overflowed the auditorium, which resulted in turning away over
150 people at pre-registration.
Families heard from several homeschool speakers,
with words of encouragement to up-dates in the legislative session. Key members from the house and senate stopped by to speak
to the group and share insights into the legislative process. Over 100 people toured the state capitol. Student ambassadors
distributed thank-you cards and cookies to members of the senate and the house. Lunch was an added blessing with entertainment
from the talented Voetberg family www.voetbergfamily.com. Workers from surrounding offices even came and joined us! The day ended with a workshop from two experts on how to homeschool
the high school student.
