Overview of the Homeschool Day at the Capitol Events for 2005
Due to the inability to schedule these events at the same time, CHN had to
organize two events for this year.
Day at the Capitol event
February 10, 2005
Thanks to the new Columbia
room in the Capitol building, we were able to secure two rooms for our usage this year. This meant we were able to accommodate
all who wanted to attend! Families enjoyed great speakers, a presentation of the Homeschool Resolution, and an achievement
award to the three homeschool children who had won the National History Day competition. Over 100 people attended tours of
the capitol, this year many were able to attend a mock trial in the Hall of Justice.
Many families were able to meet with their legislators
at the Dessert Social or in their offices. Several members of the legislature and their staff commented on how excited they
were to meet such nice families and polite children.

Reading of the Homeschool Resolution
March 16, 2005
This event was held later in the session when
the senate could schedule the Homeschool Resolution. This event was even more popular that the previous, with over 300 in
attendance, this resulted in some space issues with the smaller rooms, but we managed. From
overflowed senate galleries to overflowed hearing rooms, there was not one person on campus who was unaware that the homeschoolers
were there, and this time to be honored not to kill any of their bills! Thank you to all who attended and had such a great
attitude.
Families were able to hear from two lobbyists
on How a Bill Becomes Law, along with a brief legislative update on homeschool issues, attend the presentation of the Homeschool
Resolution in the Senate, and hear from the sponsor Senator Stevens.
